Letter from the President

25th June 2010

Dear Winemaker,

Enclosed you will find the Schedule & Entry form for 2010, our 19th Annual Wine Show.
Due to the increased number of entries we have introduced a class for Blends of Semillon & Sauvignon Blanc wines this year.

The Italian & Spanish Varietal and blends class has continued to increase in both entries and awards. The Shiraz Viognier class has been retained for this year but entries have been falling. The 85% NSW fruit rule applies to the Sparkling wines as it does to all entries.
The unfinished wine classes have been dropped due to low entries and the fact that we were unable to give meaningful feedback to those that did enter.

Please read Regulation 2 in the Schedule.

In 2009 we received 607 entries from 103 vineyards/wineries in NSW & the ACT. Sixteen Trophies, 30 Gold, 60 Silver and numerous Bronze medals were awarded.

We will be conducting this year's Show on 24th & 25th August at the Forbes Youth and Community Centre, Battye Street where we will hold an Exhibitors Tasting on Friday the 27th from 4:30pm to 8:30pm.. The judging and both the exhibitors and public tastings will be held at the Forbes Youth and Community Centre, Battye Street. It will be followed by a Public Tasting 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Lester Jesberg from Winewise Wine Newsletter has relinquished the position of Chairman of Judges. The committee thanks Lester for his years of service, steering the show through a period of change in our industry.

Andrew Thomas of Thomas Wines in the Hunter Valley is our new Chairman of Judges. Andrew has been a Panel Chair for some years now and we have full confidence in both his palate and ability to head our team. He has chosen Judges from a good cross section of NSW Wine Regions and iverse parts of the industry.

Winetitles, Clear Image and Vintec, Transtherm Storage Cabinets together with Riedel are the Major Sponsor this year and the Trophy for the Best Red Wine of Show will be one of the Transtherm Wine Storage Cabinets. Winetitles will supply 2 subscriptions to The Wine Industry Journal but most importantly they have consented to include an article on the Wine Show & Results which will be written by one of our judges, Debbie Pearce.

A Presentation Dinner will be held on 18th September. A Booking form will be included with your entry labels. Once again we will be contacting successful Exhibitors to supply wine at cost or contra for this Dinner.

Should you require any further information regarding the Show or Presentation Dinner please contact us via the phone, fax or email detailed below and in the Schedule.

We look forward to receiving your early entries.

Regards,
John Saleh.
President.
