Letter from the President

Dear Winemaker,

Enclosed you will find the Schedule & Entry form for 2011, our 20th Annual Wine Show. The show committee is particularly proud that this year marks the 20th anniversary of our show. The show has grown from strength to strength in the quality of the entries over the years and we are looking forward to what 2011 has in store.

In 2010 we received 636 entries from over 100 vineyards/wineries in NSW & the ACT. 17 Trophies, 33 Gold, 61 Silver and numerous Bronze medals were awarded.

In 2011 we continue to have a class for Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc as well as Italian & Spanish Varietal and blended wines. In addition, I bring your attention to Regulation 2 in the Schedule and that the 85% NSW fruit rule applies to the Sparkling wines as it does to all entries.

This year the show will be held from the 22nd to the 24th of August at the Forbes Youth and Community Centre, Battye Street. The Exhibitors Tasting will be held at this venue on Friday the 26th from 4.30 pm to 8.30pm and will include a Public Tasting from 6.30 to 8.30 pm.

Andrew Thomas of Thomas Wines in the Hunter Valley will again be our Chairman of Judges. Andrew has been a Panel Chair for some years and was chairman of the judges in 2010. Andrew is recognised as one of NSW premier winemakers. He has chosen Judges from across NSW Wine Regions and diverse parts of the industry.

Winetitles, Clear Image and Vintec - Transtherm Storage Cabinets are the Major Industry Sponsor this year together with Riedel and Amcor and the Trophy for the Best Red Wine of Show will again be one of the Transtherm Wine Storage Cabinets. Winetitles will supply 2 subscriptions to The Wine Industry Journal but most importantly they have consented to include an article on the Wine Show & Results which will be written by our Media consultant and one of our judges, Debbie Pearce.

A Presentation Dinner will be held on 10th September. A booking form will be included with your entry labels. Once again we will be contacting successful Exhibitors to supply wine at cost or contra for this Dinner.
